You are here. You are in this moment. You are the leader of this school or this business. You fought to be here and you did everything you could to stand out from the crowd and to make decisions that were best for your community. Now you have been thrown a huge mountain and you immediately feel the sense of panic on what to do next. The imposter syndrome creeps up into your mind and brushes against your heart. The imposter syndrome screams out questions like, “Am I enough? Who am I to lead through this? How do I know?” The truth is you are here for a reason. You have fought to be in this room of leaders and you are enough.
You will get exactly what you put in. You are the leader who will figure out a balance between working your butt off and spending time with your family. You are the leader who will honor what you have done to get to this point, even with the mountain that stands in your way. You are the leader who goes all in, commits, and shoves away the negative self talk and crushes the imposter syndrome. You know that your community and the next generation has their eyes on you and they are waiting for you to nudge them and learn alongside them. Be in and among that community, not above it. Keep your energy up through taking care of yourself and doing things for you, and invite the crowd to respond to lift you up as well.
You are the leader who worries and can be emotional. The ‘what ifs’, fear, and doubt still fly through your mind but you have learned to absorb them and let them pass rather than resist them. You don’t live in them anymore, that is why you are in this leadership room.
The leader in you knows that you have two choices when it comes to mountains of obstacles to climb. You can choose prison or power. You know that power is the only one that can move you and your community so you move to a place where no matter how hard it may be, you know that you will lead them through this. You know that what you lose externally does not define you and you realize that every decision that you are making, your future will thank you for eventually.
Commitment is part of every single day no matter how hard this gets. Just because it may be inconvenient, you push through it anyway. You are fiercely loyal to the fight and the struggle and you have the discipline to know that if your decisions or actions are not moving your community forward, you get rid of it. You choose your hard. You make that decision. Consistency lives in this room as well. You always show up when no one else isn’t, even when you don’t feel like it, and you do not treat your goals and vision like a hobby. Faith is the foundation of this leadership room and you believe the odds are beatable because of your Faith and your heart. That is why you are in this room. This is why you have fought so hard to be here. And you are here to stay.
You view everything as solution rather than problem oriented. You show your community exactly how it is done. I even have a workshop meeting template that shows you exactly how to set the stage to pivot when things get tough! You know you are not alone and that you have an entire community to think through solutions and pivot. You get them to do this by asking the right questions and having them decide on solutions as well.
The power of reframing how you show up has become a baseline for everything that you do and soon enough that mountain starts to disappear. One day, the sun will shine again and you will look back at how much you have learned and how far you have come to climb that mountain and get to the other side. You are in this leadership room because you know there is another side, that seasons pass, and that you only win or learn. Click here for ways to reframe how you show up for your life. You know that you can let this sink you or affect you, but rather let it drive you and elevate you. Remember, I am always in your corner and you have a whole room full of leaders to help you!
