Momentum. Great how do I build that as a leader? How do I use my vision to inspire my community to engage and take action? Where will I find the time for that? Maybe tomorrow I will build momentum and figure this visioning thing all out. Visioning? I have some kind of an idea about my vision but we have too many other things to get done. Sound familiar? The truth is you do have time, you can build momentum, it is hard, and you absolutely do need vision. As Michael Hyatt so eloquently states, “A vision driven leader makes their vision come alive for others so they are not only inspired but also directed to act.” Which then….gathers momentum, keeps it, and builds it. The key to a vision is that it has to move people, mean something to people, have clarity through specific step by step blueprints, and inspire people. That is where momentum happens.
Momentum requires vision which requires a plan which then requires actions. It has to happen every single day. I organize my momentum building and visioning into zones within my calendar that set boundaries and deadlines to ensure it happens every single day. I store this strategy in my momentum container/zone of my calendar where it is my go to eeeevery day. Wanna know what it is? Yep you guessed it….a system! If you have been following me for awhile, I always give you a system/template/framework/roadmap/checklist for everything and I am obsessed with organizing everything into zones or containers kind of like the home edit. I even organize my calendar into containers of focus/zones and it forces me to set boundaries and deadlines and priorities. Here is my leadership edit momentum building system:
Make a decision – Choose one priority to focus on
Choose 1-3 actions to do to conquer that priority/goal and decide how you will implement them every day.
.Set aside time in your momentum container section of your calendar to do 1 of those actions every, single day – repeat and refine as you go.
Set boundaries and deadlines and follow them.
Get an accountability pod/community and invite others in too.
Coach or teach someone else how you did it.
Momentum means making a decision. A decision no matter if it’s the right one or the wrong one gets you into motion. “A decision also gets you into action, action moves you forward AND builds momentum.” This idea came from Amy Porterfield, who is also a giant for visionary leadership that has hyper-focused clarity and an inspiring leadership message. She seems like she also knows an awful lot about the importance of building and keeping momentum through a clear vision.

Now I know what you are thinking,. Our thoughts can be a dangerous place to live sometimes… they play tricks on us. Take for instance when we’re learning something new. I don’t know about you, but my thoughts take over the truth and sound something like this . . . “This is too much work. There’s no way I can do this.” “Why is everything so hard for me to figure out? Everyone else is making so much progress!” “Maybe this is just too much for me right now.” Don’t believe everything you think! You are so much more than those destructive thoughts. I see it as my job to keep reminding you that you deserve BIG success. YOU are meant for greatness. Here’s the good news: If you become a member of School Administrator’s Academy I’m with you every step of the way. Think of me as your teacher, your cheerleader, your coach and your friend. And when your defeating thoughts take over, reach out to me in the Facebook community and I’ll get you and your thoughts back on track 😉 Now you have a whole community for lifting up accountability and coaching each other!
Now that you know what’s possible for you, it’s time for you to make a decision. The decision is:
- You could continue on your own without a plan, but you’ll run the BIG risk of being in the same place this time next year, with a big open loop and struggling to get your teachers to engage.
OR…
2) You can 100% commit to creating a plan, finding clarity in your messaging, empowering your leaders and engaging your community using a proven workshop system.
I hope it feels good knowing that you do not have to stay stuck and that there is a system out there to rejuvenate you and your community once you put it into action. It really is amazing when you have a step by step system that provides a blueprint for developing leadership messaging that is clear and inspiring which engages your community AND builds momentum. Just know I am with you every step of the way no matter what you decide. I hope to see you inside the course!
