Motherhood is a journey. Let’s be honest, it can be one of the toughest jobs in the world. In today’s fast-paced world, the role of a mother has evolved beyond traditional boundaries. Enter the concept of “Leader Mamas” – women who not only excel in their roles as mothers but also exhibit remarkable leadership qualities in various aspects of life. These women inspire, empower, and pave the way for others through their resilience, determination, and ability to balance multiple roles in their personal and professional lives. Leader Mamas are women who have harnessed their leadership qualities to excel not just within the confines of their homes, but also in their careers, communities, and beyond.
I have had many leader mamas that have come into my life and inspired me. One of the most remarkable aspects of Leader Mamas is their adeptness at juggling the demanding responsibilities of motherhood alongside leadership roles. They demonstrate an uncanny ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage their time effectively. Whether they’re leading a team in the workplace or managing a household, these women exhibit strong decision-making skills, resilience, and adaptability. Meeting these women on a regular basis and learning from them has become a key superpower in my own leadership toolbox.
The power of community can be the key to leadership, mamahood, and overall joy and fulfillment. I have noticed that one of the best traits of a Leader Mama is their commitment to empowering other women. They actively participate in mentorship programs, networking events, and support groups to share their experiences and insights. By doing so, they create a network of solidarity that helps women everywhere embrace both motherhood and leadership roles without compromise. It is incredible to be a part of this community and it sparks so much energy in my own leader mama life after being around other leader mamas.
Being a leader in your career and managing a household is not necessarily a balancing act as it never quite feels balanced. Let’s face it, is anything really ever totally balanced? Instead, leader mamas work on setting boundaries, setting up systems for productivity and efficiency and champion the idea of work-life integration, where they seamlessly blend their personal and professional lives. They know that there are seasons of hard that come and go and they figure out a way to navigate that. This approach allows them to be present for their families while pursuing their passions and careers.
But here’s the thing, leader mamas also have to be so strong and steadfast to their vision. As with everything, there are challenges. Often, they face the pressures of societal expectations, battling stereotypes, and sometimes doubting themselves. However, their determination and resilience drive them to overcome these obstacles and emerge even stronger.
My mom was one of those leader mamas who had a reputation for being fierce, bold, and passionate in whatever she put her mind to. All my life, I watched and revelled at the way she lead her car business, hockey teams, community volunteers, our family, and took kids into her home. When I became a mom, I remember asking her how she did it all. Her immediate response was that she didn’t do it alone. She had her family and a group of like minded leader mamas that she needed to help her and keep her going. She went on to add that she had to go out and find that group of women and (because they were very busy), they had to make it a priority to keep in touch and meet for coffee at least once a month (they didn’t have cell phones back then so everything was a coffee date!). Her advice to me was to make sure I went out and found a community to belong to, inspire and learn from.
And that is exactly what I did. It changed everything for me.
I found a small group of Leader Mamas who have become my lifeline in leadership, lifestyle, and my family. These ladies are the ones who I go to when I have a bad day, want to bounce a business ideas off of, have fun and drink a glass of wine with, or need parenting advice. Every single time, I leave our conversations with more passion, purpose, and clarity.
I want to build on this community of Leader Mamas because I know the power of it. That is why I have created a membership called Inspire.
